Sighs in Waves

Sadness has
drifted into
the center
of my soul~
laced its sighs
in waves
through
open
trusting spaces
where I'd set
a wish afloat
for you
my friend,
but an unexpected
whirlpool
disturbed
its direction...
changed
the course
of quiet confidence;
now glistening hope
falls away
in salty rivulets.

Blinded

He
ran
the
tips
of
his
fingers
along
her
spine
and
read
shivers
on
bare
skin
like
braille
as sheer pleasure pulsed and fluttered like a windblown sail.

Tattered

She believes
she's come undone~
sees her heart
dangling
by a single filament;
resides
in her mind
spinning fragility
into scraps
pieced
this way and that.

By day,
trembling fingers
whipstitch
tattered
into tangible~
a patchwork quilt
for comfort
when night
closes in,
and memory's threads
unravel yet again.
