Assuming Arguendo
Somewhere in the distance
Maybe yesterday
Exists a moment of joy
Possibly unrecognized
Subtle as a cat’s tail
Brushing against bare legs
A flash of red
As a cardinal darts
From tree to tree
Don’t believe
That a brilliant sunset
Is merely smog
Count the seconds
Between a lightning bolt
And the boom of thunder
In order to make your escape
To where tomorrow
Emerges from the horizon
