Sundowner
things I said
and should have said
float, upheld by a draft,
white tufts of cotton seed,
dandelion, milkweed,
let go without force,
let go in the margins
of a pad, a grocery list—
how the wind picked up,
took these dark seeds higher,
further than I thought,
but away from you,
baby. Away from you.
