i walk into the electricity of change. Bowery Poetry Club. it is the first i will attend and read at regarding CHANGE and how it might occur thru the power of words. My turn comes i read about greed. though my memory is partially blank these days, i think, speak eat always digesting, shitting & spitting out greed, bloated with these demons & thinking constantly how does one change this? Can poesie do this? combined & individual voices > the air thick with words thick words filling the dense air with GREEN – Lorca’s Green Green How much I want you Green – Peaceful GREEN- Vengeful GREEN – thick words – thick voices - THICK GREEN - the GREEN of GOLD - can words change this – after all aren’t words for the most part what got us into this mess to begin with – WORDS – GREED - always searching for fool’s gold – killing for FOOL’s GOLD – Polluting for FOOL’s GOLD - golden trumpet – light made visible – mist - prospectors & gold diggers - company men blown - lonely life makers – WORDS – but there’s always a story to be told - always a bridge to be sold. i leave BPC for my next destination Tribes Gallery to attend & read at two more change-oriented events: Unbearables for Change & my own 65th b-day reading for change, 65 & still ALIVE.. a festive night filled with ups downs drunks loud mouths friendship, gifts & the gift of WORDS.. . night fall & i read about being abducted by aliens and about GREED & occupation.. we all in both instances read from our hearts, minds souls and funny bones – bones of love – greed – golden bones on a golden calf we must slaughter with LOVE or at least by getting along- “why can’t we all just get along?” as a KING once put it after being brutally beaten & dethroned. blown….. exposed opportunity untouched.
everybody knows something tho most know nothing. am i contradicting myself
or am a fool in search of gold? finding one’s way to & thru Amerika - using $20 bills as bookmarks - what it means to be hungry >

i could use a bite about now
notifications both true & false red silks & plush velvets stock market / meat market / forfeit & kicking the money lenders out of the temple with poems (if only) - ram’s horn
car horn / fog horn / train whistle / stuffed moon & copper sky copper wires copper coins paper sliver weeping timber golden morning convalescing corpse unwearable economic powers unbearable yet unbreakable creation the electricity of creation / a man’s house & the proper use of materiality / redemption / honey / the reinterpretation of satan
possibly “HE” who passed over the house / the worship of drink – possibly “HE” – the angel of death / who spared the infants – the many messiahs / worshipping varied deities – like pearls / titanium / mercury / gold / ash dust / GREEN > & what deities @ present reside over the land > golden fools with golden rules & clipboards > JOHN DOEs of religion > government > industry > LAW… measurements / the elements table / breakfast table / dinner table / wining dining mining & reclining / foundations of sorrow & the measuring stick / candelabras & cups runnething over / gold diggers & a purse full of kisses & pieces of silver / & silence being golden accounts for why there is so little silence so let us SPEAK - speak those POEMS & not just love one only for what one is WORTH > pounds crowns tarnished torn the patina of dollars bronzed or oxidized groceries > gold comes in all colors / hunger in all colors / so pity the man with the money / the one who marries g-d / the ravishing beauty ravaged by hunger calamity opportunity sobriety…& those who are after the prize / pity them…& those on a crystal pure mission.
marble tablets to cure your hunger each containing a commandment / ghetto empires – or/e magnets - cliff dwellers – cave dwellers – grave yards / sun bleached kernels of corn liquor to cure your heartache / victim – dictum – inventory – arsenals – occupation
strikes – chicken wire – walls of flesh – divided cities - pharaohs – artifacts – scrolls – temples – tricks – dry ice – frozen nickels - mother of pearl - jade warrior - diamond pendant…
this is a young man’s game waging peace interpreting power yet it is lead by old men & played by infant soldiers every step taken a victory a naturally sweet haven
waging war in the name of peace … we must learn to speak again through POEMS but
the trip might be lengthy due to evacuation / exploitation / terrorism / default / lack of insurance / assurance / policy changes / dramatic overhauls in the system / “rich republicans” / loss of property / income / breath / life / death / debt / depth
the destruction of communities / of countries / to provide jobs > lots of panning with little planning… for gold fool’s gold – “great highways warlike victories” > the real disaster is to not be prepared – one must budget oneself > demand a flat rate for one’s time on earth
or SPEND SPEND SPEND …
enjoy the wonders of this world - city /country & when your time comes no need to transfer payments deeds goods – what’s done is done when your life is no longer @ stake & the assassins have left all bare & there’s nothing left in the cards except placards & signs filled with WORDS carried by pioneers in a world of labor after spending a lifetime in the bowels of the BEAST > the trip might be lengthy due to interruptions – all manner of interruptions during one’s entire existence gold dust ash greed health oil checking accounts alternative heat fidelity fair trade free trade prestige opposition their account of the story / flags of nations / taking everything into account – & the body an organ in a cycle pooped eyes & jagged lives – the body an organ to SING & honor LIFE always…if we could only out last the potential fate coming down on us.
yet we still dare to dare / “spacious clouds landscapes currents” green fuse & magic - & we all as sensitive as a time bomb & i’m over here & over it “giving up on war”
all this hocus pocus - liquid tears & fathomless airs > air thick with WORDS > POEMS
the molten tears of ship cutters cutting thru the steel. so let the hurricane form where it may fall where it may land where it might > on the god of happiness & all those petty dramas > find yourself / seat yourself / shelve your ideas & ideals we must stop being duped though being duped is quite natural > POETRY as survival technique / to want to be part of the 1% is quite natural along with the need to need more to want more but we must resist any way we can foremost with our WORDS > more clothing / more counterfeits / more food / more toys / more accessories / more gadgets / more capital / more space / more land / more burdens / more institutions / more MORE > the need to want more has become a real NEED a BRAND NAME - a label in a garment Made by NEED with NEED in NEED for NEED where I WANT NO LONGER EXISTS
& is REPLACED ONLY BY I NEED
i’m getting sleepy just thinking about it - / storm watch / lyrical self denial /
my needs consume me like constant inventions
my needs > a warehouse of NEEDS
like progress plastics & handcuffs
like plastic surgery these needs that change our looks / our outlook
the very fabric of our being
dust – ash - greed – debt – depth – death – gold
green gold is GREEN

steve dalachinsky nyc 2012
Steve Dalachinsky is a New York downtown poet. He is active in the poetry, music, art and music- Free jazz scene.
Dalachinsky was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1946. He has been writing poetry for many years and has worked with such musicians as William Parker, Susie Ibarra, Matthew Shipp, Roy Campbell, Daniel Carter, Sabir Mateen, Mat Maneri, Federico Ughi, Loren Mazzacane Connors, Rob Brown, Tim Barnes and Jim O'Rourke. He has appeared at most of the Vision Festivals, an Avant-jazz festival involving many of these musicians. He also appears often at the Knitting Factory. He currently lives in Manhattan with his wife, painter and poet Yuko Otomo.
Dalachinsky's books include "A Superintendent's Eyes" (Hozomeen Press 2000), his PEN Award Winning book The Final Nite & Other Poems: Complete Notes From A Charles Gayle Notebook 1987-2006 (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2006), a compendium of poetry written while watching saxophonist Charles Gayle perform throughout New York City in that time period, and "Logos and Language", co-authored with pianist Matthew Shipp (RogueArt 2008) and Reaching Into The Unknown, a collaboration with French photographer Jacques Bisceglia (RogueArt 2009).
Dalachinsky's other publications include Trial and Error in Paris from Loudmouth Collective Press and Quicksand from Isis Press. His spoken word albums include Incomplete Directions, I thought it was the end of the world then the end of the world happened again with Federico Ughi, and Phenomena of Interference with Matthew Shipp.
