Well over a decade ago, as a student at a Big Ten university, she learned many things. Most important among them, perhaps, was her mastery of the fine art of consecutive partying. Today, as a Philadelphia-based writer/artist, she abstains from all alcohol. However, she recalls with great fondness my tequila-filled evenings (conveniently forgetting, of course, the headaches and chaos which thereby ensued).

TEQUILA SHOT
AN ACT IN 10 PARTS

(SCENE – A BARTOP CRAFTED OF PINEWOOD
WHOSE SURFACE IS SHINY WITH VARNISH)

Wet the pocket of skin between thumb and forefinger,
then douse a liberal shake of table salt onto the wet skin, in order to make it stick.
Next, pour two ounces of tequila into a standard-size shot glass,
and thrust the shot glass into the air for dramatic effect.
Propose a toast if so inclined.
Now, down the hatch!
Afterwards, slam shot glass down onto the shiny pinewood surface of the bar.
Quickly suck the juice of a pre-sliced lemon wedge,
remove said lemon wedge from between the lips,
and enjoy this newfound sensation that all is right with the world.
