Poem written inside skirt and wing:
Bird-Woman
I am bird-woman
both pretend and real
beak made of lips
claws of feet
words are my wings
when I fly away
my twin hearts beat
more than prescience |

 |
look into the web
sticky threads where
a cocoon bursts
two wings
transparent blue
meant for you |

Agnes del Mar
The photographer would jump
into the wintry fountain, risk arrest
to climb the historic statue
and place an egg in her grasp.
His assistant is lost in reflections.
In resignation, just to see if it floats,
he tosses the wooden egg
into del Mar–it swims
across painted water,
flecks of droth, a wash of wind
through royal blue windows
that mesmerize.
Straight across a liquid dream
to the weightless goddess,
her golden gown ripples,
the shutter snaps:
she catches the pink orb
and offers it to the sky. |
